以前、『Cat Toy』のアプリケーションについて紹介しました（ここで）。MISOとKUMOは、長い間、静かに画面を見つめて楽しんでおりました、が...２、３日前、何かの拍子でMISOが、このアプリケーションは画面を触って楽しむものだとというこを発見（KUMOもMISOに続く...）。今では、MISOはネットを検索し、パスワードを入力したり、タイプしたりする有様。先日何か欲しいものを見つけたらしく、オンライン注文をしているのを目撃しました。もうすぐ、MISOが注文した品物が届けられる事でしょう。ほっておくとMISOは、一日中iPadで遊んでいます。このままでは、眼鏡も必要になります。眼鏡をかけた三本足の猫...世界のアイドル「まる」に匹敵するアイドルになれる日が来るかも（笑）。

I previously talked about this app for cats here. Both MISO and KUMO stared at the screen for the past few months until a couple of days ago. Something clicked with Miso, and she now knows how to play with the app. I have even seen MISO surfing the net, typing, and inputting invalid passwords...We are certain she's made several online purrrrrrchases already :)  We're waiting for mysterious products to start arriving at our doorstep to confirm that (I'll let you know if that happens). MISO will play with the iPad almost all day if we let her (she actually begs for it). She might needs a pair of glasses soon.

あれまあ、もうボロボロです。

This is what her favourite toy looks like now...almost destroyed.

近所のお店『George』で見つけた「釣り竿」の猫のおもちゃは素晴らしい！釣り竿の先についたゴムの紐は、MISOが手や口を使って引っ張る度に、ボヨヨーンとはねかえります。これが、MISOには、たまらなく楽しいらしく、もうアクロバット状態（笑）。この「釣り竿」のもう一つの利点は、おもちゃの部分が取り替え可能なこと。ボロボロになったら、新しいおもちゃと簡単に取り替えられるようになっています。もちろん『George』で取り替え用のおもちゃ（とっても可愛い❤）を買うことができますが、器用な方は自分で作ってもいいですね。すっかり大人のKUMOは、「釣り竿」にはほとんど興味を示しませんが、MISOが一人で興奮して飛び上がっている様を私達と一緒に観て楽しんでいます（笑）。

The cat toy fishing rod we got from George is absolutely the best. The elastic string part of the stick bounces back as MISO tries to catch it with her paw or in her mouth. And, what makes this fishing rod extra special is that if the toy gets destroyed (which it will), you can easily replace it with a new one (and they have so many cute attachments to replace it with!). KUMO who does not like anything that bounces, does not play with this toy. But, she enjoys watching MISO go absolutely nuts on it. And so do we!

2ヶ月ほど前、Georgeで猫のおもちゃとして売られていたピンポン球を購入。ボール系に昔から興味のないKUMOを尻目に、MISOは、すっかりピンポン球の虜になってしまいました。床がカーペットでも、ピンポン球は壁に当たって跳ね返り、それが楽しくて仕方ないと追いかけるMISO。唯一、カーペットのないタイル床のキッチンとバスルームへピンポン球が侵入すると、MISOの興奮度は最高潮に達します。

2個あったピンポン球はあっという間にアパートとのどこかへ消えてしまい、また近所のGeorgeでピンポン球を1個新しく購入。しかしこれもまた、悲しいかな忽然とどこかへ。このまま1個$3.50もするピンポン球をMISOのために買い続けることは経済的に好ましくなく、他の入手先を探すことに。そこで候補にあがったのが、サンフランシスコのジャパンタウンにある我が国、日本が誇る『ダイソー』です。ありました、ありましたよおー。6個入りでたったの$1.50！（2袋購入）。MISOが、どこでどのようにピンポン球の行方を失うのかはっきりしたことはわかりません。それでも、ワンベッドルームの小さいアパートの中で、合計8個のピンポン球を紛失しました（笑）。でも、大丈夫。まだ10個以上のピンポン球があります。まだまだいけます。

Two month ago, we bought two ping pong balls sold as cat toys from George. KUMO showed no interest in them, but it was a different story for MISO. She loved it instantly. We didn't think a ping pong ball would work on our carpet floor, but MISO proved us wrong. It bounces on the walls as MISO chases it, which excites her more. Her excitement reaches its peak when the ping pong ball enters the tiled areas of the kitchen or bathroom. 

Two ping pong balls we bought disappeared quickly in our tiny apartment. We got another one from George. That disappeared quickly as well. As much as we would like to support our favourite local store by buying a $3.50 ping pong ball every week, we had to find another way. Daiso in San Francisco's Japan town had a bag of six ping pong balls for $1.50! (we bought two bags). MISO managed to lose 8 ping pong balls so far. But she still has more than 10 ping pong balls to play with.Thank goodness for Daiso!

引っ越しが目前に迫ってきました。引っ越し先のアパート付近を探索していたら、とっても素敵なお店をみつけました。ペット関係の用具は、可愛くないものが見事に揃っていますよね。そういう現状にうんざりされている犬‧猫をこよなく愛してやまない皆さんへ朗報です。Larkspur（ラークスパー）の街にある『George』というお店は、今まで無視されてきたデザインに重視し、何よりも大切な犬や猫のことを考え、害のない素材を選んで作られたおもちゃばかりを揃えています。まさに、夢のお店です。センスの良さに、感動です。猫や犬がいなくても、欲しくなるほどです。MISOとKUMOへの素敵な引っ越し祝いのプレゼントを手に入れることができました。

Just before our upcoming move, Colin and I went out exploring Larkspur (our soon to be new neighbour hood) and found the cutest shop for MISO and KUMO. If you are like us, tired of ugly and toxic toys for your animal friends, this is the place you want to check out. We want everything from this store! They are all adorable and safe for your cats and dogs to play with. We picked up a couple of things for MISO and KUMO to surprise them in their new home.

猫のおもちゃ-5 ❖ Cat Toy-5

遊び盛りのMISOは、毎朝、日光浴中のKUMOの平和をさまたげます。MISOの襲撃を防ぐべく、新しいおもちゃを最近購入（ビデオ参考）。毎日このおもちゃでMISOを疲れさせる作戦実施中です。初日は、MISOがあまりにも喜ぶので、少々過激な運動に発展。その結果、犬のようにゼハゼハ。猫は犬ではないので、そのような呼吸をするは体内気温がものすごくあがっているか、病気であるそうです。急遽、運動は中止。あまり過激にならない程度に、適度な運動を続けています。何事もやり過ぎはいけませんね（反省）。

MISO, still being a young cat, wants to play with KUMO all the time. She jumps on KUMO and chases after her. KUMO, who enjoys peace and quiet, is not happy with her super hyper sister. So we got this simple toy (shown in this video) to curb MISO's hyper active behaviour. Well, MISO loves it. On the first day, MISO got so excited with her new toy. I also got carried away a bit too much with her. She was jumping and chasing at such a fast pace, she started sticking her tongue out and panting like a dog. Unlike dogs, cats should not be doing that (a warning to cat lovers everywhere).... That means the body temperature of your cat is very high, or your cat is ill. I had to calm MISO down so that she stopped panting. Moderation is the key for everything. MISO and I learned a lesson.

猫のおもちゃ-4 ❖ Cat Toy-4

KUMOとMISOは、只今iPhoneに夢中。『Cat Toy』のアプリケーションは、クモ、蝶、ねずみ、レーザーポインターが、画面の中で動くだけではなく、画面にふれるとねずみが鳴いたり、クモが増えたり、レーザー光線の点が振動したりします。次は、iPadを買ってほしいとKUMOとMISOにねだられています（iPadがほしいのを猫達のせいにするのはいけませんね）。

"Cat Toy" is the best iPhone app for your kitty cats. Both KUMO and MISO love it. They are so fascinated by the crawling spider, flapping butterfly, squeaking mouse, and vibrating laser pointer. They are having so much fun with this app that they are now asking for an iPad. Our kitty cats are so demanding!

猫にはボール (Simple is the Best)

猫にはボールと思っていたら、YAMAもKUMOもボールには無関心。ところが、Colinの両親から、去年ボールのおもちゃをいただいてから、無関心のKUMOをよそに、MISOはこんなおもしろいものはないといった具合で、ボールに夢中です。やっぱり猫にはボールです。

Our cats have their own toy box. You will find all kinds of toys in it except a ball. Most cats love to play with a ball, but both YAMA and KUMO were never interested. Because of them, MISO almost missed out on an opportunity to have one.  One day all that changed. Colin's parents brought some toys for MISO and KUMO... and one of the toys was a ball☺ MISO plays with it every day.

猫のおもちゃ-2 ❖ Cat Toy-2

このおもちゃは、12年前にまだ子猫だったYAMAのために購入したものです。YAMAは、この『サークル』が大好きで元気な頃は毎日のように遊んでいました。KUMOは、サークルの中で考えことをすることはあっても、『サークル』で遊ぶことはほとんどありません。猫の好みは猫それぞれですね。MISOは、今この『サークル』に夢中です。MISOとYAMAお墨付きのおもちゃです。

We got the "Crazy Circle Cat Toy" for YAMA almost 12 years ago. YAMA was hooked on the circle instantly. On the other hand, KUMO rarely played with it (although she does like to meditate inside the circle). It is funny how some cats love one thing and others not so much.  The circle was accumulating dust until MISO joined our family. This is MISO's favourite toy. The "Crazy Circle Cat Toy" get two thumbs up from YAMA and MISO!

猫のおもちゃ-1 ❖ Cat Toy-1

着古したジーンズで作った猫のおもちゃ(これもColinの作品）。Colinと私の匂いがついているので、猫達もすぐに愛着をもってくれました。一般に売られている猫のおもちゃは、すぐに、装飾品がはずれてしまい、猫が飲み込んだら心配なものがついてくることが多いですよね。でも、これだと安心です。

Cat toys made by Colin. They are not only cute but also safe for cats to play with. Colin used our worn-out jeans to make these adorable toys. Our cats love them as they also smell like us after all. There are no loose strings attached to them that cats might swallow.

Catsle!

猫の家。数年前、ColinとColinの父親が二人の共同制作として生まれた、「Catsle』。Modern Cat でも紹介して頂きました。今でも我が家の猫達の隠れ家です。

"Catsle" was created by Colin and his father. In my opinion, it is the best cat pole in the world. Our cats continue to enjoy it and we do too. It was also introduced in Modern Cat.
