アメリカに引っ越してからまず最初に行ったのが、サンフランシスコのジャパンタウンというのは、ちょっと情けない？海外に長く住んでいらっしゃる日本人の方ならこの気持ち分かっていただけるのではないかと（言い訳）。ジャパンタウンのメインストリートにあるのが、ジャパンセンターです。レストランだけでなく、日本のヘアーサロン、パン屋さん、骨董品のお店、文房具店、本屋等、なんでもあります。センターに入っているお店の数だけでもすごいのに、ジャパンタウンには、食料品店、電気屋さん、レストラン、ホテル等、本当に驚くほどの日本のお店が立ち並んでいます。ジャパンタウンで買い物している人達は日本人だけでなく、クールなものに敏感な地元サンフランシスコの人達でいつも賑わっています。うれしいですね。

One of the first places we visited since we moved down here from Vancouver was Japan town in San Francisco. It is the oldest and largest Japan town in the United States. It has everything! On the main street (Post street) of Japan Town, there is a place called, "Japan Center". It's absolutely amazing. It has restaurants, bakeries, antique stores, cafes, hair salons, toy stores, stationary stores, and much more. There is almost nothing you can't find here from Japan. We go to Japan Town once a month to stock up on our Japanese supplies. But we always end up wandering inside Japan Center, fighting our ever present temptation to buy everything we see there...very tempting indeed.
