ワインカントリーを去る前に立ち寄ったのが、『di Rosa』ミュージアム。このミュージアムは、di Rosaご夫婦が長年に渡り、個人的に収集した風変わりなアートを展示してあることで知られています。夫のReneさんは、ゴリラのコスチュームを着るのを好んだそうです。風変わりな人が集めた風変わりなアート。理にかなっていますね（笑）。『di Rosa』ミュージアムのアートを楽しむには、ミュージアムのツアーに参加する必要があります（ツアーは2時間ほど）。週末のツアーは、人気なので予め予約しておくことが必要とのこと。私達のようにツアーに参加できなかった場合は、展示のほんの一部しか観ることができません（5ドルほどの寄付金をあげましょう）。このミュージアムは、今は亡きdi Rosaご夫婦のワイン用のぶどう畑に建設されました。以前、ぶどう畑であったため、今も農地として取り扱われており、そのためミュージアムの敷地内はツアー中以外は、自由に歩き回ることができないことになっています。
「ワインが飲めない方のカリフォルニア‧ワインカントリーの楽しみ方」、楽しんで頂けましたでしょうか（笑）？まだまだ続く私の誕生日の週末特集です。さて、いつまで続けるつもりでしょうか？
Our last stop in Napa was the di Rosa Museum. The museum holds a private collection of the museum founders, Rene and Veronica di Rosa. The museum is known for it's eccentric collection. We were told Rene liked to wear a gorilla costume (he was one very eccentric man!). If you want to see all of their collection, you have to join a tour that lasts about 2 hours (they recommend to make a reservation for the weekend tour). If you miss the tour like we did, you can only see a handful of pieces from the collection displayed in the main building (a $5 donation is encouraged). The museum was built on former vineyards owned by the late Rene and Veronica di Rosa. Because it's still agricultural land, visitors are not permitted to walk freely on the property to enjoy the art (thus, the tour is provided).
California's wine country is not all about wine tasting and vineyards (although there are plenty of those too!). I now know why people love Napa so much.
