Big Rock ハイキングコース ❖ Big Rock Hiking Trail

San Rafaelに引っ越してから、家から車で10分ほどにある『Big Rock』でハイキングするのが日曜日の午後の日課です。1月だというのに日中の気温は16度。ハイキングには最適。『Big Rock』のハイキングコースは、なだらかな坂道です。カナダと日本の山の風景しか知らない私達にとって、ここはまるで別世界です。多くの小山が重なり合う風景が眼下に広がります。『Big Rock』にはマウンテンバイクに乗る人やトレイルランニングをする人たちで賑わいます。ただ、いくらなだらかな坂道といっても一歩間違えれば崖から落ちてしまいそうな箇所もあるので、マウンテンバイクをする人や走ってコースを回る人はすごいです。

We go to "Big Rock" hiking trail on Sunday afternoon as it is only a 10 min drive from where we live. It is January but it is 16°c here in San Rafael. I don't know how we got so lucky to be able to enjoy the outside in the middle of winter, but we are loving this. We both grew up surrounded by tall mountains. The view from "Big Rock" is so different from what we grew up with. There are no big mountains here, but hills surround us. They are so mysterious looking and beautiful. Mountain bikers and trail runners frequent "Big Rock." It is  a long gentle slope but there is nothing gentle about it if you try running...well at least for us.
