素晴らしいオリンピックをありがとう！

The Best Olympic Ever!

今年もまたオリンピックのシーズンがやってきます。やはりオリンピックで思い出すのは、第二の故郷バンクーバーで開催された2010年のオリンピック。一番の思い出は、『オランダハウス』です。オリンピック開催中、様々な国が『ハウス』を設置。パーティーをしたり国のアピールをしたりしていました。私達が住んでいたリッチモンドは、スピードスケートが行われ、各国のハウスの中でも一番人気の『オランダハウス』がありました。Colinと私は、二週間という短いオリンピック期間中、『オランダハウス』に３回も訪れたほど。目的は、『オランダハウス』のフライドポテト（笑）。オランダでは、フライドポテトはマヨネーズをつけて食べるようで、このマヨネーズがとてもおいしい。この二週間で私もColinも体重2キロ増。『オランダハウス』の中には、素敵な洋服屋さんまでありました。オランダ人ファンは、愛国カラーのオレンジを全身に身にまとっているので、とにかく目立ちます。毎日の生活でオレンジ色のシャツを着る勇気はありませんが、陽気なオレンジ色のオランダ人をみていると、自分もオレンジ色のジャケットを買おうかなという衝動に駆られました。すっかりオランダのファンになったColinは、バンクーバーオリンピックと同じ年に開催された2010年ワールドカップのサッカー期間中、奇抜なオレンジ色のシャツを着て、オランダチームを応援しておりました（もちろん、日本のチームが負けてしまった後に許可された行動）。オリンピックは、あなたの国籍も変えるのです！今年、ロンドンオリンピックへ行かれる幸運な方は、是非『オランダハウス』へ。

Another Olympic season is around the corner. I started thinking of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. It was an exciting time to be in Vancouver. What we remember the most is the Dutch House in Richmond. Colin and I visited the house three times during the short two weeks. If you are lucky enough to go to the London Olympics this year, be sure to visit the Dutch House. Many countries will have their houses but the Netherlands has the best of all. And most importantly, they have the best food selections! We put on some weight because of that. Hanging out inside their house, made us wish we were Dutch! They even had this cool clothing store inside, which sold orange jackets. You wouldn't dare wear orange jackets in normal circumstances. But during the hype of the Olympics, you'd see Dutch fans in bright orange walking around.  It made you want something orange too. After the Olympics, Colin became a Dutch man. During the 2010 World Cup Soccer, which followed after the Winter Olympics, Colin was wearing a bright orange shirt cheering for the Dutch team (he was allowed to do so only after Japan was defeated). Go Holland Go! The Olympics can even change your nationality...
