まず、性格が「ヒップスター」とは、ほど遠いので無理でしょう（笑）。

Two weeks ago, we went to the Mission District in San Francisco.  There are so many cool stores in the Mission, and we love this area. They sell everything (I mean EVERYTHING!) we've always wanted. How's that possible? I figure if we live in the Mission for a year or so, we might be able to become hipsters (just maybe). Unlike hipsters in Vancouver, American hipsters are friendly. Almost every store we went to, we were greeted with friendly hipsters. In fact, Colin and I started realizing that American people are the most friendly people in the world (except American officers at the border or at airport immigration). We are probably too old to live in the Mission, but we certainly will go back there many more times.

前から行ってみたかったサンフランシスコのミッション地区に行ってきました。ちょっと危険で、刺激的なお洒落でユニークなお店が立ち並ぶ地区です。どのくらいユニークかと言うと、例えば、海賊のお店（「海賊」を夢見ている方にぴったりのお店？）や、お洒落な動物の剥製のお店（「お洒落な」というところが、ミッション？）等が代表的でしょうか。この地区に一年ほど住めば、誰でもお洒落な「偽ヒップスター」になれそうです。でも残念ながら、コリンと私の生活は既に「シニア化」しているので、こんなエキサイティング街には住めそうもありません、残念（笑）。お店の人達は、きっと無愛想な人が多いのかしらんと思っていたら、そんなことはなく皆とても気さくでフレンドリーな人達ばかりでした。カナダのバンクーバーにも、「ミニミッション」的存在の地区がありますが、多くの人は、アーティスト気取りで無愛想な人が多かった印象があります。アメリカの移民局の人達を抜かせば、アメリカ人は、なんてフレンドリーな人が多いのだろうと、いつも感心します。ミッション地区は、またこれから何度も訪れたい場所です。
